FAQs
How long is this gonna take, huh?
Let me answer your question with a question: how long will you need? Some people come in with a specific goal and we’ll work together for a few months. Others find long-term therapy meaningful as a touchpoint for ongoing growth and self-reflection. We’ll work together to figure out what feels best for your goals, bandwidth for therapy, schedule, and budget.
Speaking of budget- what’s your fee? And, do you take insurance?
I’m an out-of-network provider, meaning I don’t bill insurance directly. Some of my folks are able to get a partial reimbursement from their insurance company if your insurance has any out-of-network benefits. I also work with a company called Mentaya that goes through your insurance plan and reimburses you directly after you’ve made a cash payment to my practice.
Once upon a time my life was forever transformed by a therapist who provided sliding scale therapy when I couldn’t afford it (thank you forever and ever, S!). So I keep a limited number of sliding scale slots for folks who are not able to afford therapy to honor her work and pay it forward. That being said, those slots are usually full. But! Please send me a ping to check if one might be open!
My fee structure is $165/session for individual counseling and $215/session for couples/relationship counseling.
Do you see virtual clients?
I have a strong preference for in person work- you know how it is. Telehealth is such a powerful tool for accessibility but there’s something (many things) about being face to face with another human being that stops us from running and hiding from ourselves juuuust a little more. But I can be accommodating to a few virtual clients at a time. Reach out to see if I’ve got space!
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is about getting to know you — your story, what brings you in, and what you’re hoping for in therapy. We can also talk about your goals and start shaping a plan together. And, yeah, of course, there’s a chance there might be a lot of crying (or there might be no emotion at all) and isn’t that all just a part of the process.
Do you work with couples and individuals?
Yes! I work with both. For couples, I support all relationship structures, including non-monogamous and polyamorous partnerships. For individuals, I draw from existential, humanistic, and Gestalt approaches (with parts work, too). I don’t offer therapy to kids or families.
What if I’ve never been to therapy before?
Whether you’re a seasoned professional of the therapy couch or it’s your first time- both are welcome here! I’ll walk you through the process, answer your questions, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
Where will this therapy be happening?
I see clients in person at my office in Capitol Hill, Denver. I’m located near 13th and Logan close to the golden dome. Here’s the space:
